WHAT YOU WILL DO AS A STUDENT ON AN EXPEDITION SEMESTER:
Students and faculty live and learn together, traveling through a bioregion in a custom retrofitted school bus, eating, sleeping, and studying outdoors. This traveling community explores the local and global environmental challenges that the local communities and ecosystems are facing and examines possible solutions. Through our studies, we come to know the bioregion and its human and natural communities ecologically, culturally, and sociopolitically. We also come to better know ourselves, our values, and dreams.
Offering traveling college and gap year programs based in North American bioregions.
…offers a curriculum that is not simply about the “what” of ecological concerns, but the “why” of broader place specific context, and the essential “how” – how the present reality was created, and how it can be changed for the better. This program was one of the best choices I have ever made for myself, and in my mind, one of the finest offerings of higher education available. -Julie A. ’04
